FOWLER, Forest, Jr. FOREST LaVERNE FOWLER,JR. Forest LaVerne Fowler, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia died peacefully on April 29th at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta from complications of pulmonary disease. He is predeceased by his father Forest LaVerne Fowler, Sr., mother Virginia Hill Fowler, and sister Mary Virginia Virden. Born July 7, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of Forest and Virginia Fowler. He attended Darlington School in Rome, Georgia where he graduated Cum Laude. He attended and graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Management. At Georgia Tech he was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity, Phi Eta Sigma National Freshman Honor Society and the Industrial Management Society After graduation, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Army and served two years at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

After leaving the service in 1956, he joined the family insurance business, the Forest Fowler Agency, After fifteen years as Chief Operating Officer, he retired in 1990. In addition he also enjoyed building houses during a rapidly growing Atlanta real estate market. He was a life member of the Capital City Club, a life member of the Alexander-Tharpe Fund which supports Georgia Tech athletes, a founding director and second president of the Benedicts of Atlanta social club, founding board member of New Life Center, a Christian rehabilitation ministry. He was a member of the Atlanta Kiwanis Club with 50 years of perfect attendance. He married the former Barbara Mann of Marietta, Georgia who died in 1978. They had three daughters, Sheryl Butler, Claire Kelley, and Molly Seides. In 1979 he married the former Mary Powell Parker of Decatur, Georgia and added two step-children, Grayson Parker and Laura Parker, who all became a happy close-knit family. He adored his eight grandchildren, Charlie Butler, Sarah Buter, Rachel Roop, Ramsey Roop, Meredith Seides, Paige Kelley, Brendan Kelley, and Harrison Mauldin. He was the longest standing member of Peachtree Christian Church where he is a Deacon Emeritus.

He was founder and first teacher of the Young Couples class in 1959 which later became the Fellowship Class, one of the longest ongoing Sunday School classes at Peachtree Christian Church. His sense of humor and good fun punctuated his life and was enjoyed by his family and many friends. The memorial service will be held Sunday May 2nd at 2pm in the sanctuary at Peachtree Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Fowler Fund at Peachtree Christian Church, 1580 Peachtree Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.
